Buckeye Interactive looks to send 10 aspiring entrepreneurs to Startup Weekend

NEW ALBANY, Ohio (February 8, 2013) – Buckeye Interactive is currently accepting applications from ambitious developers, designers, and entrepreneurs in all stages of their career who are passionate about the startup community in Central Ohio, and are interested in attending Startup Weekend Columbus March 1-3.

Startup Weekend is a weekend-long, hands-on experience where entrepreneurs can find out if their startup ideas are viable. On average, half of the Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds while the other half have business backgrounds. Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday, teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies, and building a minimal viable

product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of local experts.

“As a company who is focused on helping small businesses and startup ventures, we are always eager to sponsor this initiative,” Bob Nikolajczyk, Chief Operating Officer at Buckeye Interactive, said. “The benefit this weekend provides to the startup community in Central Ohio is priceless and our goal is to give everyone an opportunity to attend.”

As many as 10 qualified applicants will be awarded a weekend of irreplaceable networking, building, learning, and creating. Applications will be accepted now through Friday, February 22, and scholarships will be awarded on Monday, February 25.
