Community Financial Wellness (CFW) is a community-led, inclusive initiative focused on providing accessible financial education to economically vulnerable individuals and families across Central Ohio. Through community partnerships, they empower users with tools and knowledge to take control of their financial futures.
Several years ago, we built CFW’s original website, which was geared toward economically vulnerable adults. It consisted of a learning management system to house the course material, along with a one-page summary of the program. Recently, when Community Financial Wellness was granted 501(c)(3) status, it became clear that the website needed to grow with them.
The CFW team wanted to create a marketing website that appealed to nonprofit partners, sponsors, donors, and other champions of the program. The new site needed to explain the program, encourage participation, and increase the community recognition of Community Financial Wellness as a newly established nonprofit organization.
Our team at Buckeye Innovation partnered closely with CFW to bring the reimagined website to life. The initial visual design came from an external graphic design partner. We collaborated closely with both CFW and the design team to transform static design concepts into a living, responsive website.
To begin, we reviewed and refined the provided Figma files, ensuring that every design element would translate seamlessly into a fully functional site. We built custom components that honored the design team’s creative vision while optimizing for performance, accessibility, and long-term flexibility. Our team also provided a full content review, which included adjusting Call to Action buttons to provide a smooth user experience. This work resulted in higher SEO rankings, improved readability, and a more accessible site.
Accessibility was a top priority throughout development. We assessed and refined the site for ADA compliance, working hand-in-hand with the CFW team to make thoughtful tweaks to colors, copy, and interactive elements. Recognizing the importance of inclusive access, we designed the platform to function consistently across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
Because the URL previously linked users to the learning management system rather than a marketing website, we linked the LMS prominently in the homepage hero section. This allowed students to easily find their courses on a site that now serves a wider audience.
The new, public-facing Community Financial Wellness website demonstrates the impact that CFW has in the community and showcases key nonprofit partnerships. It invites users to get involved with the program and creates streamlined opportunities for people to learn, donate, or partner. Visitors can read testimonials, explore the program in-depth, and easily engage with CFW. Potential students can learn about the class and easily connect with a partner organization to enroll.
Ultimately, the website establishes CFW as a nonprofit dedicated to inclusion, accessibility, and community-driven impact. With a solid foundation in place, CFW is now better equipped to expand its outreach, serve more learners through increased partnerships, and continue transforming financial futures across Central Ohio.
