Community Financial Wellness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving financial literacy and stability in Central Ohio. They deliver financial education programs through a network of nearly 50 community partners, including nonprofits, workforce programs, and educational institutions. As Community Financial Wellness grew into a standalone 501(c)(3), they needed a more scalable and flexible way to deliver this programming as their reach expanded.
Their Learning Management System needed to do more than host content. It had to track learners across multiple organizations, cohorts, and locations, while maintaining a structured and engaging educational journey. It also needed to support multilingual users, provide clear progress tracking, and equip both Community Financial Wellness and their partners with meaningful reporting and insights.
We built a custom LMS web application designed specifically around CFW’s program model. The platform allows administrators to create and manage modular lessons that support different content types, including videos, quizzes, worksheets, and resource links. Curriculum developers can add assignments with defined completion criteria, ranging from opening the document to receiving a certain grade on a quiz.
Learners advance through modules in a structured way, unlocking the next steps only after completing key requirements. If users do not pass a quiz, the LMS directs them to the specific lesson to improve their understanding. Learners earn badges as they move through the program, increasing engagement and motivation.
To support a diverse user base, we added features to support accessibility and learning clarity. These supports include Spanish language functionality, interactive glossary terms that appear when users highlight key words, and collapsible term sections within each lesson.
On the backend, we developed robust administrative tools that allow both Community Financial Wellness and their partner organizations to track user progress, manage cohorts, and oversee program performance across multiple locations.
This partnership resulted in a customized, scalable platform that is now delivering financial education to thousands of individuals across Central Ohio. Through the custom LMS, Community Financial Wellness can effectively partner with more organizations to expand their reach and help more people achieve their financial goals.
The platform supports high-quality education that adapts to community needs, while also providing the structure and data needed to improve outcomes. The web app positions Community Financial Wellness to expand into new regions, onboard additional partners, and broaden access to financial education for years to come.
